Frequently asked questions

Who can attend a Canadian Multigun event?

  • Anyone who is 18 or older, who is prepared to take part in a safety & fun focused challenging event. You do not need to be a super star shooter, what you do need to be is competent with the firearms you are using, familiar with our rules, and able to conduct yourself safely under phsyical and mental stress.

  • The stages are typically 3 - 4 minutes long, you don’t need to be an athlete you just need to work hard, conduct yourself safely and know your limits. An event is 1 day an injury or safety failure can be for life

How do I register for an event?

  • Set up an account on Practiscore and either search for our events on it or click on the register links on our event pages to be taken to the event registration pages

What equipment do I need?

  • Equipment levels are driven by choice of division but at it’s simplest a shooter needs:

    • Eye and Ear protection

    • A rifle or pistol calibre carbine and/or a handgun (Some events require only one firearm and others both) zeroed and ready for the competition (Don’t be that person who complains about how their day isn’t going well but didn’t zero their gun before the event). Information on zeroing can be found in the learning zone

    • Magazines/Clips for at least 50 rounds of ammunition for each firearm and a place to securely put them (magazine pouches)

    • Clothing and footwear suitable for intense outdoor physical activities that are appropriate for the weather and do not limit your ability to safely use firearms

How can I prepare for an event?

  • Read and understand the rules, watch Brutality shooting matches on youtube

  • Practice loading, unloading, and resolving stoppages with your firearms using snap caps. Become highly familiar with them and handling them in a controlled way with the barrel pointing down range

  • Practice moving with your firearm and keeping control of where it is pointing as you conduct physical activities such as crawling, moving around/under obstacles and more

  • Practice consistently applying your safety and keeping your finger off the trigger at all times except when intending to shoot

  • Practice shooting from standing, kneeling, prone and through apertures at varying angles. Ensure to know how your rifle/PCC shoots out to 400m/200m and 50m with handgun

    • Note: If you don’t have access to a 200m or longer range practice at the range you have, we highly recommend a 200 or 300m zero for 5.56/7.62x39 calibre firearms. The majority of shooting will be 100m or less. Don’t be intimidated be determined.

  • Exercise, conduct body weight exercises such as press ups, sit ups, squats, pull ups, etc. and cardio

  • (coming soon) Go to our learning zone where beginner materials exist

Do I need a handgun?

  • No, we offer rifle only divisions at all events

  • But don’t worry if you don’t have one we have a rental Glock 17 and 48 with left and right hand active retention holsters & magazine pouches which can attach to any regular belt. You need to show have attended a handgun training course in order to rent one.

Do I need Black Badge to attend?

  • No, though we always recommend shooters seek out training courses of all forms to improve their abilities

Can I dress up in period correct or fictional attire?

  • Absolutely so long as the outfit is safe to use in a dynamic physical environment and is not being worn to make a political statement or is offensive

    • Example 1: It is acceptable to wear the period correct uniform of an armed force, but any insignia, motifs or symbols aligning it with a hate group/ideology are not ok. Enjoying using a set of clothing & equipment is one thing, wearing the insignia of a group that conducted a massacre is another

    • Example 2: It is cool to wear a real/fictional outfit but it’s not okay to obscure your vision in any way or wear something that inhibits your ability to conduct stages safely. An outfit from the Emu war is fine, an outfit using innapropriate footwear like flip flops or a facemask that limits your vision is not

    • Example 3: T-shirts and patches supporting our fellow shooters are mega! But those that show explicit imagery or insult specific groups are not. Canadian Multigun events are for all gun owners. Don’t like that? Don’t come

Can I bring people to watch?

  • Absolutely, but any and all who come with you are your responsibility and must conform to all the same rules including PPE

What is the event schedule?

  • A typical event is run as follows

    • Thursday: A full build up of the range (we accept volunteers)

    • Friday: All shooters must attend registration & have their equipment checked against the division they chose. Those who fail to meet requirements will be placed in the unlimited division

    • Saturday & Sunday: The event is conducted, there is often a post event pub meeting each day for people to gather and socialise at

    • Monday: Range clean up

  • Note: The more prepared you are the sooner you can start shooting

What should I wear?

  • Weather appropriate clothing & equipment that you are comfortable being used in rough dirty environments through activities such as crawling on gravel, climbing over walls, and moving through forests etc. A good source of affordable quality clothing for this is our sponsor & competitor Misty Mountain Supply

Can my friends and I register as a group in the same squad?

  • Yes, but we make no guarantee that you will be in the same squad, it is up to you to register together and choose a squad to be in

What if the weather is bad?

  • Oh dear, how sad, the show goes on

  • If smoke from forest fires etc. reduces air quality to an unsafe level we will have to cancel/end the event and will seek to conduct it again at a later date where possible

Can I get a refund if I can’t come?

  • No, cancellations and no shows are very hard for us to recover from. We have to procure equipment & consumables well in advance and finding replacements at the last minute is effectively impossible. We don’t like doing this but we do have to.

Do I need to sign a waiver to spectate or compete?

  • Yes as part of registering on Practiscore you will be. In addition any non-competitors will likewise need to sign a waiver

Can I consume drugs or alcohol before or during an event?

  • No, anyone who is consuming these will be required to leave the premises and be banned from all future events

Can I volunteer?

  • Absolutely, please contact us at canadianmultigun@gmail.com

Can I sponsor a Canadian Multigun event?

  • Certainly, we have different tiers of sponsorship, please contact us at canadianmultigun@gmail.com
