What is Canadian Multigun?
Canadian Multigun is an organisation dedicated to giving shooters the opportunity to be challenged in every way. Our shooting competitions and training include savage stages that require shooters to perform under physical & mental stress.
The environments which our brutality events take place in change with every event ranging from -25c in 2m of snow, pitch black night time and +30c in the woods. The scoring is harsh with significant penalties, winning comes through being a consistently good shooter. You and your equipment will be tested and with any failing you will walk away a better shooter.
Our events whether brutal or not challenge the shooter as much as their equipment and are always designed to be as accessible as possible the average shooter. For most of our events an SKS is enough.
What is our culture?
Canadian Multigun is for all shooters who want to challenge themselves to become fundamentally better shooters.
The core components of our ideology and culture in no particular order are to:
Endure hardship together and as friends. The event is the enemy, all those around us at every event are our friends to help, and become better shooters with.
Help people become better shooters through exposure to different aspects of practical shooting that are often looked over
Encourage & Enable the development of non-shooting skills in First/Trauma Aid, Team Building, Leadership, Hunting, and more through the conduct of training & immediate testing of gained knowledge
Highlight practical and functional approaches to shooting techniques & equipment through challenging but not absurd activities
Reward those who improve themselves as much or more than their equipment
Present as few barriers as possible both seen and unseen to any and all who wish to have safe fun and be part of a vibrant and supportive shooting culture
To reward performance on the day, no leagues no past glories, show up and shoot, you’re only as good as you perform right here right now
How did it begin? A comment from Tom
Coming to Canada from the UK I saw straight away the potential to grow and develop the use of pistols and rifles in a dynamic way. Being from a crowded country where static range shooting dominates rifle usage, pistols are effectively banned and dynamic shooting sports greatly limited to shotgun usage, I was dismayed to see incredible ranges and vast spaces of land in Canada being used in much the same way as in the UK.
I decided to change things and started to conduct events that really tested shooters and put them outside of their comfort zones, not just physically and mentally but skill wise too. No more max ranges of 100m for rifle usage, no comfy rests, no more speed shooting with race guns and no more super specialised equipment that can’t be used outside of a very narrow discipline. I focused on challenging people to conduct the fundamentals of dynamic shooting & marksmanship with practical, commonly available and affordable equipment that the common shooter can attain.
Being part of the Canadian Multigun culture is about improving yourself first and your equipment second.
Starting small we conducted our first “Official” event to test the waters in 2021 and started to ramp things up with Winter Brutality 2022. The feedback was incredible. We step by step established ourselves and built an incredible team around us and started to conduct more and more events pushing shooters to their limits and bringing smiles to faces. It must be mentioned without exaggeration it is 100% true that the incredible people who give me their time & energy are the reason Canadian Multigun is able to exist and I owe them an immense amount of gratitude.
Now despite the uncertain times we exist in there is only one approach we can take and that is to be Swift & Bold
